Atlanta's Next Top Model, Cycle 7

Atlanta's Next Top Model Cycle 7: High Fashion is the seventh season of Atlanta's Next Top Model. It continues to air on VTV. The series premiered on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.

The permanent judging panel has changed again with Kora Preobrazhensky, Taylor Vanderburgliesse, and Reiden "Rul" Lassen all leaving. Eva Kourkouva is the only judge who reprises her position, but is not the host. The new host is Takuya Yanasagi (ex-supermodel in Japan, executive producer and filmmaker, and host of her own talk show in Japan). We welcome Annete Quinterro to the judging panel (the new editor-in-chief of Vogue Atlanta, which the winner will receive the cover and spread in) and George Cortina (prominent and highly acclaimed fashion editor and stylist) as well.

The winner will receive: a 1-year contract with IMG Model Management; a cover and 8-page spread within Vogue Atlanta, a cover of Vogue Nippon shot by Terry Richardson; $50 000; and the exclusive chance to appear in the Chanel F/W (Haute Couture) 2011/12 show. The runner-up will receive $25 000.

Contestants eligible in the contest must be at least 5'8" in height. The age limit is now 16 to 25. Contestants should not have appeared in any major national or international campaigns and/or ads in the last 3 years. There are no weight restrictions this cycle. 16 finalists will compete, once again.

This cycle's overseas international fashion destination is Tokyo, Japan.

The promotional tag line/motto for this cycle is simply "High Fashion".

The final 2 contestants will once again make it to a live finale where the audience and general public may vote for the winner (it will once again be a 50% audience vote and 10% per judge vote). The girls will walk in Atlantan Fashion Week 2011 where their walks will be critiqued during the live finale.

In the end, ___________ was crowned the seventh Atlanta's Next Top Model on ________, _______, __, 2011.

Weekly Synopses

CASTING,

  • 35 model hopeful women vie to compete for the title of Atlanta's Next Top Model in its most high fashion cycle yet. The prizes are amazing. The potential is amazing. The drama is even better.

The series begins with superimposed images of high fashion magazine covers like Vogue, Fashion, Allure, Flare, Numero, Elle, V, and Harper's Bazaar Magazine. Takuya Yanasagi introduces herself via a narrator voice-over while videos of top fashion supermodels around the world (Coco Rocha, Eniko Mihalik, Frida Gustavsson, Jourdan Dunn, Freja Beha, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn and Joan Smalls) all work the runway. She then begins to show audition tapes with bad model hopefuls walking horribly, with a sudden music change, and asks "But which one of these girls has what it takes to be the NEXT top model?" The screen fades to black and the title "Atlanta's Next Top Model, Cycle 7: High Fashion" comes onto the screen. A group of girls stand outside a make-belief model management office, HF Models in a studio/warehouse downtown Rein. The group of girls enter and see that there is nothing in the big empty warehouse. They murmur amongst each other. Illena complains jokingly that she didn't fly all the way here and leave her rich life to compete on some bogus reality show. Twins Tara & Sara start to make a knock-knock joke loudly to ease up the tension. The girls find them entertaining. All of a sudden, the lights turn off, and when they come back on, the girls hear footsteps. Eva Kourkouva stomps out into the empty room with 3 other people stomping behind her. She introduces herself once again to those who don't know her and says "You can all relax now!" with good intentions. She introduces Takuya Yanasagi to the girls and tells them that she will be the new host and permanent judge. Joining the two include George Cortina, huge fashion name, having many girls squealing in the pack, much to the judges' content. And also, last but not least, is also Annete Quinterro, editor-in-chief of Vogue Atlanta, in which the winner will receive a spread within and also the cover. Takuya explains the prizes that the winner will receive (and also runner-up), leading to the girls' drives and emotions skyrocketing. The girls are all very excited to get to know each other and to work already. Leah Marie and Nica already have sore feet. Anya has one of the most high fashion faces in the pack but lacks confidence. The girls get together in the next room to take model polaroids. Some of the girls have natural talent, others don't. Coring is back with a vengeance and wishes to be a part of this special cycle. Qahira talks bad about the contestants while they do their shoot and the word quickly passes on that she is annoying and two-faced. Sai approaches her when she hears that Qahira called her "boring and fat". Lorelei is a spoiled girl and buds heads with Illena. Stephane and Eris share a moment together as they pray for good measures. Jainen is very educated and is a gifted student. Being 16 and already doing her first year of undergraduate studies, she wishes to concentrate on the tasks at hand and not let any of the drama distract her. Evgenia has very big personality. At dinner, the girls share their backgrounds with each other. It is revealed that Mihalek is Roscja's baby stepsister. Mihalek was nicknamed after Eniko Mihalik and wishes to be a part of the house with her stepsister. A few girls pick up on and make fun of Li's accent. Li proves to be a strong girl and does not seem to be too affected by the girls poking fun at her, yet. Ann, Rojm, Ana and Grenly befriend one another as they are all among the tallest in the pack (6'0"+). The photos have been printed. Takuya invites all the girls back to the empty warehouse where there are 24 mannequins. Behind each mannequin is one polaroid shot. The girls must locate their polaroids on the back of the mannequins. If they cannot find their photo, they are to immediately leave the studio warehouse with their belongings. Later that night, Sabrina throws a fit in her hotel room and leaves the competition. The judges reveal later that they had their eyes set on Sabrina making it very far, if she didn't quit. Tahlie tries to ease up the anxiety and tension by rounding up all the girls to one room where they can all have a few drinks that night. Many of the girls are still underrage and Tahlie is worried that she may be eliminated because of her idea. She insists that those under 18 should drink soda instead. Lorelei doesn't listen and drinks some vodka. Veronique grabs the drink out of her hand and tells her she should listen to her elders. Lorelei and Veronique fight. The girls all return to their rooms. The next day, they are all brought back to the warehouse where they see tables and tables and props, hair, and make-up. They then know that it'll be a self-styled photo shoot. The catch is - they do not know what they are modeling for - as the clothes are in the next room. They must style themselves and dress themselves after for an impromptu avant-garde self-styled photo shoot, which will determine who will make it into the Top 16 (the House finalists). Many of the girls go for an over-the-top mix-and-match look once they hear "avant-garde". Li and Jainen go for a natural, soft look, that is versatile and easy to work with. Eris has no idea how to do her hair. Tara & Sara do each others' looks for good measure. Blysse is overtly sexual with her styling. Finally, the girls all see racks and racks and racks of clothes in the next room and everybody is in disbelief. They are all bikinis. The girls start stripping and run through the room naked searching and searching for the perfect bikini that will match their styling. The girls line up to have their photos taken. The girls who are not in line yet believe they have more time to look for the perfect bikini. Takuya comes out to tell them that the last 2 girls will not be able to do the photo shoot and will be automatically eliminated. Quickly, the girls start forming a line. Tara & Sara are the last two as they wait for each other to get in line but instead happen to be the last 2. They go home. Quickly, the judges see who has model potential and who doesn't. Rojm picks up a broomstick as a prop and rips her bikini into shreds having a disheveled and "homeless" look. Li looks like a swimsuit model. Sai looks like she's taking a dump but her styling is good. Blysse looks like a naughty nurse, which is not the type of thing the judges are looking for. The next day, the girls all check-out of the hotel and are invited into the grand ballroom, wearing elegant dresses by Alexandre Vauthier and styling done by xreativsolutions (Creative Solutions). 21 girls stand before the four judges. Each judge reads 4 names. The models in their bracket represent each corresponding judges' personal favourites. Eva begins with Evgenia, followed by Ann. Then Lorelei was called, much to the girls' disbelief. Deidra was last. Annete calls Mihalek first, followed by Roscja. Then Coring is called, followed by Eris. George calls Tahlie first. Then Li. Followed by Sai. Last, but not least is Qahira. Takuya calls Stephane first. Then Grenly. Rojm is called penultimately. The girls all shake in fear and tears ensue as Takuya breathes to say the last name. Jainen.

WEEK 1,

  • The judges dig deep under the new cast of models' skins to see who can handle the pressure and who cannot. The girls drown in each others' potential in the competition. Tyra Banks guest judges.

The 16 models are taken into taxis that take them to a small-sized apartment complex in downtown Rein. The girls receive a Takuya Mail that tell them that the life of a model is not always glamorous and lavish. They will be taking taxis throughout the entire competition and have to live in such a model house for the majority of the competition. Mihalek explains that she was never accustomed to any form of luxury anyway as she was raised by abusive parents and was adopted by Roscja's much more high-class family only recently. She was given the nickname Mihalek because it was always her dream to model and Eniko Mihalik was her favourite model. She spelt it with an "e" near the end so that "designers wouldn't be confused with Eniko and [her] during fashion shows". Her birth name is Jac. WHen the models get into the house, they realized there are only 7 bunks beds. 2 models would be left without a bed. Nobody wants to give up their bed, but eventually, Grenly gives hers up as she doesn't like conflict. Lorelei comes up with the idea that her and Li can alternate sharing a bed throughout the week. Li had no say in this and she was just like "okay fine". Stephane sees Li as an easy target for bullying and she is aware of this. Jainen calls her family up and tells them what a roller coaster it has already been and she's unsure as to whether or not she's in the right competition. The girls are taken to a casting for Marni the next day. The models must impress with their natural potential, runway ability, and personality. Roscja is a show-stopper with her amazing runway walk. Stephane is amazing as well, except she's the shortest out of all the girls. Tahlie impresses with her potential and personality. Unfortunately, her runway walk is a complete mess. After the casting, the Marni representatives choose a couple of girls to be in the show. Roscja, Stephane, and Jainen are chosen, to Jainen's surprise. The girls believe they are returning home only to realize they're showing up at a dance studio to practise their runway walks. Miss J. Alexander is there to show the girls how to walk the walk. Tahlie improves a lot. Coring walks like she's on ecstacy and Grenly walks like a zombie. The girls are now exhausted as they reach base and go to sleep. Li confronts Lorelei about the bed situation and Lorelei explains that she feels sick and has a really bad stomach ache so Li should let her sleep in the bed for one more night. Li passively gives her her sympathy and walks away to sleep with Grenly right outside the kitchen. The very next morning, the girls are whisked away to a photo shoot. They meet new creative director Denzl, who introduces them to their new amazing head MUA and wardrobe stylist - Cloe Legault and Alisa Krost, respectively. Denzl tells the girls that they will be wearing Preen. The girls are extremely excited - until they go outside and see the set. It's a grimmy pool that's decked out...down...to look like a swamp. The girls are horrified at the grotesque set they will need to work with. Denzl brings out the first model, Rojm, and tells her that she will need to bring out real emotion and be as if she is a DROWN VICTIM for this Preen test editorial. Rojm is a tad confused at first and looks constipated being engulfed by all the creative but Denzl loosens her up by asking her why she wants to win. Rojm explains her family situation and says that her single-mother is in rehab and Rojm really needs to do something for herself because she almost followed her mother's path. Roscja goes up next and she is compared to Rojm for being too stiff and looking confused. She has immense potential but she needs to learn how to work it. Mihalek shines by really evoking true emotion while going over and over her past childhood. Sai fails to impress and she just looks extremely tired and one-look during her whole photo shoot. The girls return home and take turns taking showers, which took about a little more than 3 hours before everybody was done. The final 16 face judging and elimination for the first time and are introduced to the new judges. Tyra Banks guest judges.
Lorelei> Takuya congratulates her for being one of the most assertive contestants the competition has ever seen. Annete lets her know that her photo is really flat and will never make it into any big fashion magazines, but she likes her heels. George tells her that her face captures the light quite well but the photo just did not work for him today. Eva says that she actually likes the photo. Tyra says she has such a beautiful and young, fresh face that George would really like to capture, to his accordance.
Qahira> Takuya acknowledges that she has such a dynamic face to work with and she's "borderline racially ambiguous." Eva loves her look and says she will go far. Annete gives her some heads up with her angles but really likes the creativity she used for her photo. George does not like her expression in the photo and says she looks "dumb". Tyra agrees with Takuya.
Roscja> Takuya really likes her potential but hated her film because it just seemed so lacklustre and uninspiring. All the other judges liked her photo but agreed about her film being horrid.
Rojm> Eva likes her potential. Takuya wishes she would have more intensity in her eyes. George and Annete believe she has a lot of potential but really wants to see a makeover for her. Tyra wishes she could do the makeovers for the girls because they all have amazing potential.
Mihalek> Annete is really excited with this girl and says she has immense potential and reminds her of a younger Marisa Miller. George Cortina likes her as well. She is very sexy but can be very classy and high fashion. Takuya, Eva, and all the judges praise her for her amazing courage and portrayal of emotions. Tyra loves this girl the most.
Eris> The judges all say she is too sexy in the photo. George likes it. Annete tells her she needs a more high fashion makeover.
Evgenia> All the judges are astounded by her photo and give her a standing ovation. It is the first time in AtNTM that a standing ovation for a girl's photo occurred. Eva is absolutely astounded and tells her she is her new favourite.
Tahlie> The judges laugh at the large number of blondes this cycle. Annete loves her face structure and her immense potential. George and Takuya see a huge resemblance to Coco Rocha, one of their favourite models of all time. Tahlie and Eva share similar views on styling and they click right away.
Jainen> Takuya tells her that she is a little green but has immense potential. She really likes her photo. The other judges really see the passion in the eyes but want to see more in person from her. Eva says she is one of those who are "great" but not "the best". Annete adds "the underdog" and she sees potential in her.
Sai> delivers a lacklustre photo and looks really stern in person. Takuya tells her she needs to loosen up. Annete does not see much potential in her but says she can do swimwear or be really good in South Africa.
Deidra> is forgettable to the judges. However, George loves her bone structure. Tyra likes this girl but says she poses a little too harsh, which will make her look older.
Ann> shares similarities with Grenly but has an amazing photo. Takuya says she has enough potential to become one of the frontrunners. Tyra compares her awkwardness to ANTM Cycle 15 winner Ann Ward; she will need to own her awkwardness and use it to her advantage.
Grenly> Takuya loves her laid-back attitude but really wants to see more passion and energy from her. She likes her look but tells her she photographs old. The other judges agree.
Coring> Eva congratulates her for making it into Cycle 7, when she tried out for Cycle 6. Her first photo turned out to be a bomb and this really disappointed her. George sees no potential in her whatsoever and that she should just quit trying. Annete tells him that that was "unnecessary and rude" and begins a slight quarrel at the judging table. Annete tells her that her athletic body might work well in other realms of modeling, but unfortunately for this cycle, she is a bit of a no-no.
Stephane> Takuya loves her feisty attitude and mature face even at 16. Eva is very pleased with the potential with this girl. George says she bears slight resemblance to Coco Rocha as well. Annete loves her skin and her photograph is very "enjoyable to look at", which makes the judges laugh but concord. Tyra loves this girl's flawless skin.
Li> Last but not least, Li is seen as an average model. George and Annete tell her that being Asian means being even more assertive and tough skinned in the Western modeling world. Takuya definitely sees potential in her "Asian soul sister" and believes she will go very far. Eva does not like her photo and says it's "missing a little something that [she] will find soon enough".
