Atlanta's Next Top Model, Cycle 6

Atlanta's Next Top Model Cycle 6 is the sixth season of Atlanta's Next Top Model. It marks the first time that the show has switched broadcasting networks, from The FSHN Network to VTV. The series premiered on Wednesday, July 21, 2010.

This cycle marks the biggest changes in the series so far.

The judging panel has changed drastically after Kirsty Lenans was allegedly "fired" just a week prior to the filming of Cycle 6. Replacing her is Reiden "Rul" Lassen, a renowned major fashion show director in Europe. After being criticized for her "condescending demeanour" by various fashion elite, Sophie Q has decided to retire from the modeling world at the age of 31, and has quit her post as the host and executive producer of the show. The new permanent host was decided to be Taylor Vanderburgliesse, who was a part of the judging panel since Cycle 4. There will be another new addition to the judging panel, Eva Kourkouva, Russian-Atlantan model. The final judge is Kora Preobrazhensky, who will reprise his position.

Although the agency that will manage the winner remains to be IMG Model Management, the winner will receive the opportunity to meet with Chris Gay (president of Marilyn NY) and Louis Chabon (president of Women's NY).

Revlon has decided to cut ties with Atlanta's Next Top Model after Sophie Q said some bad things about them. This caused some huge controversy, but also some major publicity. The winner will now receive the chance to shoot international ads for Fekkai (hair), Lola by Marc Jacobs, and a $50 000 contract with Dior (for Diorshow Mascara). She will also meet international supermodel Lara Stone. In addition, the winner will be on the cover of Vogue Magazine, and receive a 2-page editorial spread within. Finally, for the first time ever, the runner-up too will receive a prize, which consists of a 2-page editorial spread within Elle Canada.

Contestants eligible in the contest must be at least 5'7" in height. The age limit is 16 to 27. Additionally (a requirement not clearly stated beforehand), contestants should not have appeared in any major national or international campaigns and/or ads in the last 3 years. There are no weight restrictions this cycle. It is the first time since Cycle 2 that the number of contestants eligible to be in the house has increased. 16 girls now make it in the house as finalists to compete.

This cycle's overseas international fashion destination is ____________________, ____________________.

The promotional tag line/motto for this cycle is "Work."

The final 2 contestants will once again make it to a live finale where the audience and general public may vote for the winner (though they do not decide who ultimately becomes the winner, as they are just accounted for as one additional vote to the judges' votes in the finale). Prior to the finale, the models will go on go-sees themselves to determine the final catwalks they will walk in for the finale judging. A finalist may book all jobs or no jobs - it is up to them.

In the end, ____________________ was crowned the sixth Atlanta's Next Top Model on ____________________.

It was later revealed that she would have been eliminated anyway. 4 girls were ultimately out of the competition by the end of Week 1. Cassi and Chrysanthi were said to be in the bottom 2.

Weekly Synopses

Work.,

  • A new flock of girls attempt model boot camp to earn a coveted spot into a revamped version of Atlanta's Next Top Model, in its 6th season.

The series begins with Yvelisse's audition tape as to how she was an orphan and is unsure of her ethnic background, but is still so strong, and wants to pursue modeling as it reaches out to her in the only way she can express herself. The screen snaps to Yvelisse walking alongside 4 other girls (Cassi, Sarah Rae, Allison, and Molly). Stef, Monica, Coring, and Mi'iera join them. A lot of girls come together to form a large group in the center of Bay Street in downtown Rein. A platform suddenly rises with a gigantic TV and a runway is formed. Taylor Vanderburgliesse comes onto the runway. He re-introduces Kora who joins him, strutting down the runway. The girls cheer for them. Taylor tells them that the competition begins immediately. They all get on the runway and every girl walks in front of the public eye while Kora and Taylor take notes. They are all driven away to the largest private jail center in all of Atlanta - The Peach Center. Reaghan immediately recoils as she confesses that she was there not too long ago. Many of the other girls are intimidated by Reaghan. She openly confesses this to Juli and the word is passed on. Juli is to blame. Tensions rise as the girls take on a photo shoot where the theme is "mug shots". Reaghan tries to get back at Juli by sabotaging her shoot but instead a few of the girls take Juli's side against Reaghan. Mishelle sides with Reaghan stating that originally, Reaghan was the righteous one, but then does a double take and blames Reaghan for getting back at Juli. Many of the girls see Mishelle as two faced and dislike her already. Saleka shares her stories of being friends with a lot of people who have been in jail before, most of them innocent, but judged based on their race initially. Mi'iera accounts that her parents have both nearly been sent to jail before and it is her, at 16, who must make a living for herself, as both her parents are divorced and are "crackheads". Yvelisse can relate to Mi'iera, with "bad childhoods". The group of girls is cut to a smaller than usual, 22, and the 22 proceed to the final stage. They pose against a graffiti-filled wall and are dressed as hippies. The photography is very "old school" and the girls must emit a carefree, daring, hippie lifestyle in DUOS, in the photograph. Nicole and Marianya become very close, bonding based solely on their body size. They both feel that if one makes it into the final 14, then the other will be eliminated in the semi-finals. Anya organizes a group party in her hotel suite for the girls before saying goodbye to almost 10 of them (so they believe 10 are leaving). Cassi, Kay, Chrysanthi and Tailor are a few that sit out. These girls take a smoke instead. The girls feel as though they think they're better than everyone else. Anya thinks that Kay is the most beautiful girl in the semi-finals. Saleka disagrees and states that either Anya and Tailor are - and that they have an extremely high chance of winning the competition. Finally, early next morning, the girls are gathered together in a conference room of the hotel. Taylor announces that he will be the new host of the series, and then picks 14 girls to be in the competition. The rest of the girls are sobbing. But Taylor introduces a new judge on the panel right after - Eva Kourkouva. She is a Russian-Atlantan model, at 27 years old (Marianya is shocked to know that she is as old as the judge and doubts her place in the competition - as Nicole has already been selected anyway). Eva announces that there will be 2 more girls who will enter the competition this year - as the prizes are better than ever and so are the changes. Eva calls out Reaghan to join the girls. Reaghan is utterly shocked and cries in Mishelle's arms. Eva calls Nicole to step forward and asks her who she would like to join them. Nicole immediately shouts Marianya. Eva then calls out Marianya to join the finalized group of 16 this year. Marianya is ecstatic to hear this and all the girls caress. Taylor thanks the other 6 girls for coming out and coming so far. The episode ends with the girls getting their promotional photos done.

Nude?!,

  • The new cast of 16, this year, move into their new model loft where they already face some tough challenges.

The 16 girls are pampered to appear at a private show during L'Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto, Canada. They are extremely excited but the excitement is cut short when they realize they are being judged not only by the permanent panel of judges but also by industry elites. Chrysanthi is experienced and gives tips to the other girls, but also tries to sabotage them, ultimately. Reaghan takes note of this and spreads the word. Cassi listens to Chrysanthi and practices an extremely poor walk. Reaghan tells Chrysanthi to tell Cassi that what she did was wrong but Chrysanthi just goes onstage. Before Cassi heads onstage, Reaghan tries to teach Cassi how to walk better. Cassi ignores her and storms down the runway. She comes back, feeling righteous and proud of her performance on the runway. The girls laugh at her and she begins to bawl. While the show is going on, she storms towards Chrysanthi and a confrontation becomes violent. Jennifer begins to break the girls up so that the flow of the show is not disrupted by poor model behaviour backstage. Yvelisse is unfortunately hindered by the size of her shoes that her walk is not the best she could've produced. Melanie walks like a man. The judges meet the girls after the show and tell them that a few of them did quite exceptionally, while others were extremely surprisingly - not in a good way. Taylor announces that this week, there will be more than 1 girl going home. Kora then announces that he thought the best girls were Saleka, Mishelle, Jennifer, Chrysanthi, and Tailor. The worst girls were Cassi, Melanie, and Yvelisse. The girls are taken to the streets of Toronto where the judges survey random pedestrians for their opinion as to which girl seems to have the most potential. In the end, Tailor is thought to have the most potential. She is given the keys to their new model loft and is able to pick 7 other girls to accompany her inside first, while the other 8 wait outside until one person from the primary group of 8 allows them inside. The girls are extremely surprised to see the mansion-like loft in Rein, Atlanta after a 4 hour flight. After 1 hour, Yvelisse decides that it is mean to leave the other 8 outside for so long and lets them in. Tailor is already drunk and starts grinding on the pole that is conveniently placed inside the living room. The girls have loads of fun and underage drinking persists. A few of the girls are upset about the underage drinking. The following day, with many of the girls hungover, the girls visit a new Ella Moss boutique in downtown Rein. They see many mannequins in the storefront without clothes on. They are given a lesson in styling and the girls attempt to style the mannequins with Ella Moss garments. Each girl will then have to pose with their individually styled mannequins in the storefront window, with a crowd watching them. But - there is a twist. Margaret Stern-Stowry announces that they will all be posing with dress up mannequins, but the models themselves, will be completely nude. They will be judged on their professionalism, final photograph/product, personality, presence, potential, their styling of the mannequins (seen in the photo), and their overall performance in the competition so far. Marianya is extremely disappointed that she will have to bear it all. She just had a baby and is 27, and is not yet comfortable with her size 12 body. Nicole is a tad shy of her own body as well but decides to do the photo shoot anyway, while Marianya sits out. She does not even style her mannequin, but cries instead. Back at home, the girls comment on Marianya's poor performance and Marianya is sure that she will be eliminated this week, so she tells the girls that she will quit at panel. A few of the girls tell her not to, especially Nicole.
Juli was commended for her sense of style and similar features to Coco Rocha. Her photo was fashion forward. The judges were concerned that her personality and look was too mature for her age.
Cassi embodied a true top model in her photo, but it was a fluke. Only 4% of her film was usable and her performance during Fashion Week was just horrendous and naive. Her styling was not so great. Cassi cried. Eva and Taylor saw potential in her.
Saleka brought a fierce gaze in her photo. Her styling was actually good and the judges loved her walk. They saw potential coming from a Home Depot employee that should've started modeling a long time ago.
Marianya disappointed the judges in not doing the photo shoot. The judges critiqued her potential. Rul said "What potential? There is none."
Kay showed a lot of potential and grace in her photograph. Her styling was spot on. She was commended for her performance during the photo shoot but the judges were disappointed in her height.
Mi'iera showed that she had a lot of potential. She had a lovely gaze. The judges wanted her to have a makeover.
Meg was critiqued for being too boring. Her photograph was actually one of the more fashion forward ones. Her styling was rather good as well. But she just wasn't memorable.
Melanie had very masculine features about her. In the photo, she actually looked like a man. She had no presence.
Yvelisse shone this week with her photograph, being the best. Her styling was also very exceptional.
Tailor was commended for her performance this week. Her photograph was very endearing. She had a lot of potential.
Anya looked divine in her photograph. The styling was very bad though. The judges liked her personality.
Reaghan looked stunning in her photo and the judges were surprised. Reaghan explained that she's been through a lot and that she thinks she has a lot of potential and hopes that the judges will not let her go so soon. The judges criticized her lack of confidence.
Mishelle had a striking photograph. The judges were unsure of her potential but others felt otherwise. Mishelle boasted a lot of maturity and self confidence. She had to work on her charisma.
Nicole's photo was flat. Her styling was not so good.
Chrysanthi had a lot of potential and she was already experienced. Her photograph was actually not one of the best but her styling was good. The judges were concerned by the immense amount of experience she already had.
Jennifer looked like a true top model in her photograph. Her styling was up to date and even Ella Moss commended her for it. "Definitely a force to be reckoned with" was a comment from Rul.
TAYLOR: "I have 16 lovely ladies standing before me, but tonight, we will be left with 12. That's correct - 4 of you will be leaving us tonight, in a matter of minutes. Don't start crying on me now, Nicole. *chuckles slightly* I think the only way to do this is to call you each up in random order, and I will explain each of your critiques, and your fate...*chuckles*"
ELIMINEES: Melanie: "So I made it this far - I should be pretty proud. And I am. I'm 23, I've got a steady job, this has been a great experience. They told me I look like a man, I'm pleased." / Meg: "Apparently I'm boring? But my look isn't. They made a huge mistake. A huge, huge, mistake...I can do runway. I can do Vogue. I can do Marc Jacobs..." / Marianya: Quitting was not an easy job for me to do. This experience might've been a roller coaster ride for me, but I'm just so happy now, that I get to go back home and raise my family. I hope Nicole wins!" / Chrysanthi: "Whatever. I am a true top model, I know it."

Who Is...A True Top Spy?

  • After a whopping elimination of many contestants, the remaining 12 girls take on a photo shoot inspired by the espionage film Salt (2010).

Kay thought about going home as the competition finally seemed to dawn on her. It wasn't a game anymore as 4 girls left in just one short week. Yvelisse confessed to putting a heavier dosage of salt and sugar than usual in her cooking for the girls, as sabotage. Reaghan struggled with her weight. Cassi did too, but told Reaghan that it was because of the stress and her boobs. Reaghan and Cassi became quick friends. The girls were taken to a dance studio where they all thought they were going to learn how to dance. However, Eva Kourkouva came out to greet the girls. She told them that being a model meant being a chameleon and letting go of any inhibitions and fear. This week was all about 'letting go' and doing what you are told. She got the girls to stand up in front of everyone to act crazy and to act out outrageous situations (i.e. begging, acting psychotic, committing suicide). It was all too scary and too real. Yvelisse confessed to having almost killed herself after many years in the orphanage system. When it was Juli's turn, she just laughed at herself and eventually was brought to tears by Eva's harsh criticism of her not taking anything seriously. She told her that she was a beautiful girl but she was "ugly on the inside". Juli was angry. Eva asked Juli if she wanted to sit out and opt out of the challenge this week. Juli was unsure and bawled, but Eva made her sit out anyway. The girls were very intimidated. The second part of the teach required the girls to bash out at each other and argue - one on one. Many of the girls were very committed. Some took it a little too far. Some were just giggling and did not get into it enough. When Saleka and Nicole bickered at each other, it seemed almost too harsh and critical for Nicole. Nicole took things too personally. Mishelle and Reaghan bickered and got mad at each other afterwards. Back at the house, the girls were evading each other and the atmosphere was just all too negative. They apologized to each other and told each other that they not need to take things personally and that Eva was only trying to help. Kay thought Eva was just trying to cause some drama in the house! The following day, they were driven to a busy intersection, on the streets. They met Benny Ninja there who would teach them about posing. They were to let go of inhibitions and strike poses on the streets, with many eyes watching and cameras clicking away. Then, there was a pose off in teams. Eventually, the winning teams included Jennifer, Mishelle, Saleka, and Anya. They were told that they each received 15 more frames in their next photo shoot. Each of the girls then had to pick one other girl to take 15 frames away from! Jennifer picked Tailor. Mishelle picked Reaghan. Saleka picked Nicole. Anya picked Juli (originally volunteered to take 15 away from her 15 extra frames given, but Benny Ninja told her this was not possible!). At home, the girls watched a private screening of Salt (2010) starring Angelina Jolie. The next night, the girls went to a photo studio where they were introduced to the different sets that the girls would be modeling in. Margaret told the girls that they would be paired (once again) and will have to pose in different settings. Angelina Jolie sent them a special message and told them all "good luck and kick ass!"

Duo Setting
Reaghan & Tailor Japanese Garden
Juli & Nicole Hot Tub
Kay & Cassi Escape from Jail
Jennifer & Mi'iera Subway Tunnel
Anya & Saleka CIA Facility
Mishelle & Yvelisse Abandoned Factory

Juli was not very happy about working with Nicole and there was absolutely no chemistry on set. She disappointed the judges in her attitude and facial expressions. She did not use anything she learned this week from the teach (partly because she sat out for most of it anyway).
Cassi disappointed with her lacklustre performance. There was no sparkle in her photos and the only thing that stood out were her gigantic hips. Kay outshone her. It seemed as if she looked Kay's height even though she is actually almost more than 2 inches taller.
Saleka and Anya were neck and neck in the photo. She was amazing and dazzled.
Kay did not do very well in the photo either but was getting better towards the end. She would've benefited from the 15 extra frames.
Mi'iera was slightly boring in her poses and expression. She had a mystery about her but it just did not translate in person. She was outshone by Jennifer. Her personality was dwindling.
Yvelisse had an amazing shot. Her potential was unquestionable.
Tailor had a powerful silhouette shot. The judges have yet to see a strong full frontal shot from her.
Anya benefited from the 15 extra frames. She was improving though.
Reaghan's photo this week was a lot worse than last week's. The judges were disappointed. They thought she would benefit from a makeover - and quick too.
Mishelle and Yvelisse had an amazing chemistry and photograph together. She looked like a true fashion model in a magazine with their photo together.
Nicole improved a bit from last week. The judges noted her intake of critique - which was good. She had to work on her confidence.
Jennifer, once again, had a stunning shot. It was miles better than Mi'iera and she had many usable shots. Jennifer tried to help Mi'iera during the shoot as well, which was good, as she could also multitask. The judges loved her look and thought she would be a dark horse in the competition.
TAYLOR: "Will Cassi & Juli step forward please? Cassi, last week, we were unsure as to whether we should let you go or Chrysanthi. This week, you are amongst the topic of mass discussion again, and here you are, standing as one of the last two. Your looks are unique and so is your figure. You must learn how to use it and translate your beauty into a photograph well. Juli, your attitude and professionalism scares some of the judges. This is unfortunate because you have a great face, great body, and some potential. What we noticed is that we saw nothing good about you this week, and this is tough, because we just eliminated 4 girls last week, and you were given another chance, and it seems as though you've blown it. So what shall the judges do this week? Cassi. We're giving you another chance. Please use it wisely. If you do not, you will be saying goodbye to all these girls at the end of the next elimination."
ELIMINEES: Juli: "What they did there was just absolutely absurd. I did not deserve to go home, at all. I probably won't miss any of these girls and they probably won't miss me very much either."

Denudate...Almost

  • The remaining girls take on two exciting and sexy photo shoots this week. One girl is a natural at pole dancing, while another one faints during judging.

Back at the house, Jennifer criticizes Cassi for not being confident enough. Cassi storms off and complains to her roommates. Kay approaches Jennifer and the two have a quarrel where Jennifer claims that she was only trying to help. Kay seems immature when she brings up the age thing and Nicole just sits and watches the drama unfold. Nicole calls home to let them know that she is still in the competition but is losing steam extremely fast. If she doesn't perform well this week, she believes that she'll be going home. The girls are taken to Tigerlily swimwear where they meet Sienna Miller, helping them with poses in bikinis and how to be sexy and not sleazy. They then travel in a limousine to a nightclub where they meet up with Pat Cleveland. She teaches them how to be a classic with sexual appeal, without overdoing it. Tonight, they are to modernize that effect, where they are to perform a pole dance in front of a live clubbing audience. The winner of the challenge will win a private getaway to The Falls, Barbarian Falls, resort town of Atlanta. They will receive complimentary meals, free spas, manicures, pedicures, and an all-expenses paid trip in the tourist areas. Many of the girls exude too much sleaziness. The only 2 girls who fulfilled the brief correctly were Anya and Mishelle. The judges all decided that the winner would be Mishelle, for her classic beauty and effortless look while doing the challenge. Mishelle then picked Anya to share the prize with her. The girls all believed they were going back home when instead they pulled up to a Ken Paves salon where they met Ken Paves, Eva Kourkouva and Taylor Vanderburgliesse. Eva explained that as a model, you would need to be versatile and have to adapt to change whenever, wherever. Taylor then told each model that they would not see the final product until the end. All the mirrors were masked and all the girls were blindfolded. The girls received their makeovers. Mi'iera did not enjoy the change and hated the colour on her. Reaghan was ecstatic to have such a big change. Saleka did not like being bald. Yvelisse wanted a big change but received no change. Anya and Jennifer also loved their looks. Back at home, the girls started talking about their relationships back home. It stunned the girls when Jennifer stated she was still a virgin, at 24. She explained that she was a lesbian, to much of all the girls' surprise. Kay, now very uncomfortable with her new cut looking like a boy, was even more uncomfortable as she believed Jen might've had (or have) a crush on her. The following morning, early next morning, the girls were whisked to the forest where they went to small waterfall. They had their hair and make up done. Margaret Stern-Stowry told them that they would have to emit a sexiness about them in Tigerlily swimwear by Jodhi Meares, under the waterfall. A few of the girls struggled. At the end of the photo shoot, Yvelisse seemed to get a little sick. Unfortunately, they would need to work some more because they were immediately whisked off to the next photo shoot - at another location in the forest. This time, they had to wear fat suits and roll around in a groggy, muddy area, and still try to look gorgeous. This time they wore Elle McPherson's new brand of intimate underwear. Mi'iera felt very uncomfortable. Her hair was very difficult to work with. Nicole did not have to wear a fat suit and this time, she felt offended, but also a bit glad because she could just do whatever she did usually, in terms of modeling.
Cassi delivered a gorgeous shot that the judges all drooled over in her swimsuit photo. In the fat suit photo, the angle of her face was a bit odd, but the judges loved that she improved so much from the previous week in terms of her movement and posing. She knew how to work her body now!
Saleka was pretty in her swimsuit photo and was smiling. Half of the judges did not like her facial expression. In the other photo, her pose was a bit awkward but her face was amazing. This is ironic because these two photos seemed like polar opposites in the same week. The judges were slightly worried.
Kay was absolutely beautiful and sexy in both of her photos. She fulfilled the brief perfectly in both photos and owned it. Her makeover did wonders for her.
Mi'iera looked uncomfortable in both of her shots. Her hair was a mess in the mud shoot and covered most of her face.
Yvelisse took directions, listened well, and improved every week.
Tailor finally produced a gorgeous frontal shot. The judges found her personality slightly dulling though and wanted to see more life and personality from her.
Anya had a very playful photo shoot in the first one. But the energy seemed to die down in the second one. Her effort and charisma was really evident though.
Reaghan was almost unrecognizable this week. Her makeover did her wonders. She looked like she knew what she was doing. She took notes more and more now and talked less. The judges wanted to see more from her still. They wanted to see what else she could do with her new do now.
Mishelle looked stunning in both photos as well. She was becoming a true top model.
Nicole was slightly awkward in both of her photos but her face photographed amazingly well. She still needed to work on her confidence more.
Jennifer was owning the competition. She had brilliant shots week after week.
TAYLOR: "Can Nicole & Mi'iera please step forward? Let me just start by saying, I think everybody is gorgeous this week, and that you all truly do look like top models now. But - that is - in person. We want to see this beauty on film. That is why both of you stand before me. All of these girls who are safe this week, are undoubtedly good photo takers. We are narrowing you all down to the entire country's top 10 contenders right now. We need to know that you are photogenic. We do believe that with just a bit more effort and passion, and we know you can do it, this final model that I'm going to call, may be able to finally show us why she deserves to be here. Consider this a wake up call...Nicole. Congratulations, Nicole, you're still in the running towards becoming Atlanta's Next Top Model. We see a stunning face, but we want you to know that you have a stunning body, and you should definitely work it! Thanks Mi'iera, you've been an absolute blessing, and this elimination was very, very, very close. We hope you continue to grow."
ELIMINEES: Mi'iera: "Umm. I'm sad, obviously. I think what they did to my hair was almost illegal - like they were trying to eliminate me anyway. But I'm gonna go back home now, live life to the fullest, try and be a model myself. I think Jen will win. The judges really love her."
